A new design approach focused on social, economical and ecological sustainability, is needed taking in consideration the new socio-economic scenario and the new challenges started from global crisis. We know that the 80% of the whole impact generated by a product or service is settled during the design process. For this reason it's necessary to develop a procedure able to help designers in the development of new products or services. The Eco-Design approach entails a global vision of the project by extending the study to the whole product life-cycle and including the environmental issues in the project design phase. In this way it has been developed a procedure (preliminary Eco-audit) that helps the designer' choice during the Eco-design process. The Eco-audit is a preliminary environmental analysis of the whole life cycle of a product system with the aim to highlight the strengths and weaknesses on which to follow-up strategies for innovation and environmental communication. During the preliminary analysis will be identified the critical points from the design point of view, as geometry, materials, functional aspects, which will be improved during the subsequently design process.
