 Nowadays, an important aspect to consider in the production of plastics is the source of the material. Even in the context of recycling we should pay attention to the origin of products and type of treatment they were subjected. An inquiry conducted by the television news Report reveals how many types of plastics of diverse origin are sent to China. Opening of the markets of these countries has unfortunately allowed to evade the control rules and the regular procedures that guarantee a quality product not harmful to health. Plastic waste containing toxic substances are thus processed to become new raw material, without following the appropriate steps during the regeneration treatment. It's therefore necessary to make the difference between the existence of these realities and the forms of virtuous recycling that ensure healthy and quality products. Re-Made di qualità Un aspetto importante da considerare oggi giorno nella produzione della plastica è la provenienza dei materiali. Anche nell'ambito del riciclo bisogna porre attenzione all'origine dei prodotti e al tipo di trattamento a cui sono stati sottoposti. Un'indagine giornalistica realizzata dalla trasmissione televisiva Report denuncia come molte tipologie di plastiche di svariata provenienza vengano inviate verso la Cina. L'apertura dei mercati di questi paesi ha permesso purtroppo di eludere le norme di controllo e le procedure regolari che garantiscono un prodotto di qualità non dannoso per la salute. I rifiuti plastici contenenti sostanze tossiche vengono così lavorati per diventare nuova materia prima senza seguire le misure idonee durante il trattamento di rigenerazione. È dunque necessario fare la differenza tra l'esistenza di queste realtà e le forme di riciclo virtuoso che garantiscono prodotti sani e di qualità. Come la missione di Regenesi di utilizzare materie totalmente rigenerate in Italia e di realizzare prodotti con tecnologie all'avanguardia, nel rispetto del vero artigianato italiano.  Cotton is one of the most widely used tissue for its inimitable characteristics of natural fiber, versatile and pleasant to the skin. When we check the garment label, the presence of a percentage of cotton reassures us and it guarantees us the quality of the product. However, it’s also important to know that the cotton plant requires large amounts of water and pesticides. It also represents the 2.5% of all arable land and it’s cultivated for the 90% in the developing countries. This plant has, for these reasons, a great influence on both world environment and economy! "Better Cotton Initiative" (BCI) was created for this, it provides fundamental principles and criteria for a responsible production within a support system for the producers of cotton. Some of these rules are to preserve the benevolent insects and to prevent the development of pests for reducing the pesticide use, to control and optimize the use of water, to respect farmers and lands together in the long term. This is an important initiative which was signed by major jeans manufacturers like Levi's and H&M. Good management is the basis for a better world built on rules shared by all! Da "lavare" con cura Il cotone è uno dei tessuti più diffusi e utilizzati per le sue caratteristiche inimitabili di fibra naturale, versatile e piacevole al contatto con la pelle. Quando controlliamo l’etichetta dei capi, la presenza di percentuali di cotone ci rassicura e ci garantisce la qualità del prodotto. Tuttavia è anche importante sapere che la pianta del cotone richiede grandi quantità di acqua e pesticidi. Rappresenta inoltre il 2,5 % della totalità delle terre arabili ed è coltivato per il 90% nei paesi in via di sviluppo. Questa pianta ha, per tali motivi, una grande influenza sia sull’ambiente che sull’economia a livello mondiale! Nasce per questo la "Better Cotton Initiative" (BCI)che mette a disposizioni i principi e i criteri per una produzione responsabile all’interno di un sistema di supporto per i produttori di cotone. Alcune di queste regole consistono nel preservare gli insetti benevoli e prevenire lo sviluppo di parassiti per ridurre l’utilizzo di pesticidi, controllare e ottimizzare l’impiego dell’acqua, rispettare nell’insieme i coltivatori e le terre nella lunga durata. Un’iniziativa importante a cui hanno aderito anche grandi produttori di jeans del calibro della Levi’s e H&M. Una buona gestione è alla base di un mondo migliore costruito su regole condivise da tutti!
 Often simple solution is the most intelligent and economical key to solve complex problems. Infact, the students of Massachusetts Institute of Technology have devised a method of illumination for three million homes in the city of Manila (Philippines) where people are forced to live in conditions of constant darkness. To do so, just get a plastic bottle, water and bleach and simply placing bottles, filled with water, in holes made in the tin roofs to create real 55W bulbs using the refraction of the light. The project name is "A liter of light" - Isang Litrong Liwanag - and is based on the principles of Appropriate Technology, the movement that supports and encourages the development of simple and sustainable technologies to ensure essential services to countries in development.  A case to mention is "Vac from the Sea", a vacuum cleaner produced by Electrolux with small pieces of plastic recovered from the oceans, which are used to create the body. The result are enjoyable objects that are different one from another, which encapsulate the high performance and reliable technology of a worldwide household appliance giant. This is an example of an important first step for the recovery of plastic waste that wander from long time in the waters of the seas and oceans, and a great demonstration of design that seeks ecological solutions while maintaining high levels of product quality. Enterprising ideas and new applications can therefore turn a risk factor, such as plastics in the seas, in an alternative proposal that brings people together in creative and collaborative activities. But there's also someone that this summer, in a pleasant day by the sea, has made a simple gesture, collecting plastic abandoned on the beach to reclaim the beauty of the sea. Un mare di idee
 The increasing emphasis on Italian and Community legislation (eg in the EU directive of December 2008 in which prevention is placed at the top of the hierarchy of waste management community and that Italy will have to work within the same 12 December 2013 a national program of prevention waste) suggest to us that in the future we will put the focus of our attention to proper waste management. Good news certainly, but top/down change is not enough! For this we are very pleased to hear of CleaNap, started with a word of mouth from a game on Facebook. People of Naples, with brooms and spades collect waste in the streets. And recycling the "do-it-yourself". Every 10 days people, self organized on Facebook, decide to clean up a town square. Neapolitan care indolence becomes again from the bottom, first to clean a street, then a square, then another. Alone. Which then became a program and an interesting acronym , in two syllables, good for children, graduates and grandparents: CleaNap. The world can change from the Top, with new rules (but usually we can only influence a Policy) or acting "bottom up" here and now! Forza CleaNap! Napoli: rifiuti e cambiamento, una buona notizia! La crescente enfasi della normativa comunitaria e italiana (si pensi alla direttiva comunitaria del dicembre 2008 in cui la prevenzione è posta al vertice della gerarchia comunitaria di gestione dei rifiuti e che la stessa Italia dovrà darsi entro il 12 dicembre 2013 un Programma nazionale di prevenzione dei rifiuti) ci spingono a pensare che in futuro porremo al centro della nostra attenzione una corretta gestione dei rifiuti. Buone notizie certo, ma per cambiare non basta partire "dall'alto". Per questo ci fa molto piacere sentire di CleaNap, partita da un passa parola su Facebook. Persone di Napoli, con scope e palette raccolgono rifiuti nelle piazze. E parte il riciclaggio "fai-da-te". Ogni 10 giorni i ragazzi si autoconvocano su Facebook e scelgono una piazza cittadina da ripulire. La cura all'indolenza partenopea diventa ripartire dal basso; pulire prima una strada, poi una piazza, poi un'altra. Ridarsi appuntamento e fare un altro pezzo di "pulizia". Da soli. Che poi è diventata un programma e una sigla felice, in due sillabe, buona per bambini, laureati e nonni: CleaNap. Il mondo si può cambiare agendo dall'alto, con nuove regole (ma di solito possiamo solo condizionarle e non deciderle direttamente) o agendo "dal basso" qui e ora! Forza CleaNap!
